Patient Information
First Visit
We understand that the need for root canal therapy is frequently an emergency situation. Our office is prepared to provide same day treatment and, in most cases, complete treatment in one visit. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan may require a consultation prior to treatment. Under these circumstances, your initial appointment will consist of a discussion explaining your diagnosis and treatment options with a second appointment providing treatment on another day.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your appointment:
- Your doctors referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
- A list of medications you are presently taking
- If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary information. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
Premedication and medical conditions
If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur, hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
X-Rays
We require digital films be taken at our facility as they are utilized in conjunction with the procedure. Digital radiographs use a radiation exposure of about 10% that of conventional dental radiographs. For comparison, If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may bring them or request that they forward them to our office.
